My grandfather passed in January 2019, right as the polar vortex hit the Quad Cities. Although the weather was unbearably cold, the HMD staff rose to the occasion to still provide a heartfelt celebration of life for my grandfather. The staff down at HMD is phenomenal. They want to help you during the most difficult time of your life, and they make sure to give their all in helping you plan your services. I was also very fortunate to have worked at HMD this past summer (2021) before I left for college. Although I was only there for a couple of months, the staff immediately made me feel welcome and part of the HMD family. The staff helped me to grow and and develop as a person, as well as a wonderful team to work with. I cannot say enough about how fantastic the HMD family is, and I feel very fortunate to have been able to get to know them.
I worked with Caralee Rath, Preneed Counselor and Nick Haut, Funeral Director. I can't say enough good things about them and their funeral home. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries was incredibly helpful in my family's time of mourning for our brother and cousin. Our Brother died in California so it took time to bring him home. The actual service was small but we were able to stream the memorial online using Zoom and YouTube which allowed people to attend and speak remotely. They provided items that I did not think of but would have noticed had they not been there. Thank you for your compassion when helping me plan my brother’s service. I have already planned my own funeral with Halligan-McCabe-DeVries.
When my father passed, our family was grief stricken. We were shored up by the aid of Nick Haut of Halligan-McCabe DeVries Funeral Home.
No one wants to lose a loved one, let alone plan their perfect good-bye. Nick's genuine kindness and availability supported us in taking on sensitive topics and compassionately carried them into the most beautiful decisions that we could make to honor our dad. Nick was there at every moment to take care of so many details. We were all well cared for, especially our mother. We will always be grateful to Nick and the wonderful folks at HMD. Professionalism. Conscientiousness. Beauty. Support. Compassion. .
It is with ease that I write this testimonial, as our family has gone to Halligan McCabe DeVries for generations and have always been comforted in doing so.
Chick's picture says it all . He was just plain fun to be around and always had something to make you laugh. Our class reunion will be Dullsville without him being there . God Bless you CHICK! Ed De La Hunt
Many, many "Thanks" to Nick Haut, Tim Dugan, and Tom Frandsen for their assistance in coordinating James Hunstad's arrangements on 1/4/2021.
Your kindness and support will always be remembered.

We could not be happier with the support and guidance we received from Scott while processing the loss of the family matriarch, our grandmother. He went above and beyond in all areas. He helped to facilitate getting our grandmother from Florida to the Quad Cities to grant her final wishes. I could not be happier with our choice to use their facility. It is clean and beautiful, and anything we needed was provided. Thank you again for all you did for us!
Everyone is so loving and caring. They go above and beyond to help you in a time of terrible loss. They are truly doing God's work by providing comfort to those in need. My family will never forget their kindness!
