Waunetta Schmitt

Waunetta I. (Heuertz) Schmitt, 82, a resident of Davenport, formerly of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Due to the world-wide health concerns, services will be private. Waunetta will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Maquoketa. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Waunetta was born September 20, 1937 in Iowa City, the daughter o f Arthur and Catherine (Schaefer) Heuertz.

Waunetta worked for Sprint for many years while residing in Colorado. She volunteered at the Arvada Center for the Arts in Colorado. Waunetta was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport.

Those left to honor her memory include her sister-in-law, Verna Heuertz of Davenport, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, sisters, and in-laws, Gary Heuertz, Carroll and Carolyn Heuertz, Darlene and Gerald Stevens, and Marcelene and Francis Skeffington.
