Shirley Slater-Humphrey

Shirley Ann Slater – Humphrey, 66, of Bettendorf, died Friday, December 27, 2019 at her home in Bettendorf.  Keeping with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  A Time of Celebration and Sharing will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, January 6, 2020 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of sharing.

Shirley was born in Des Moines, Iowa, a daughter of William and Norma Slater.  She earned a Masters in Psychology from St Ambrose University.

She enjoyed painting, especially landscapes, reading, puzzles, and crafts.  Shirley also enjoyed her spending time with her grandchildren and collecting flamingos.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Stephanie Radin-Young, Buford, South Carolina, William Alan Slater, Moline, and Thomas James (Rebecca) Slater, Davenport; grandchildren: Joslyn Slater, Shayla Slater, Tiffany Scolis, Chris Manger, Caitlin Manger, Micah Dockery, Christian Dockery, Phoenix Rain Slater, Ethan Slater, Serena Slater, LilliAnn Slater, and Devin Slater; siblings: Esther Brown, Arizona, Neils (Theresa) Slater, Charleston, South Carolina, and Liz, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Karen Slater, Des Moines.
