Mae Bird

July 20, 1932 — December 31, 2020

Mae Arlene (Eis) Bird, 88, a resident of Eldridge, died December 31, 2020 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eldridge Fire Department.

Mae was born July 20, 1932 in Muscatine, the daughter of Clifford and Lorena (Ricketts) Atkins. She married Edgar T. Bird January 20, 1951. He preceded her in death May 21, 1997.

Mae worked as a cabinet maker with Brammer Manufacturing. Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, reading, bowling, and gardening. Mae was well known in her family for her homeopathic remedies. She cherished her time spent with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Sherry (Gary) Ball and Cindy (Larry) Gregorich, both of Long Grove; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heidi, Gretchen, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Samuel, Ally, Madison, Max, Avery, and Gwen; sisters, Diane Clearman and Christine Sindt, both of Buffalo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Don, Darlene, Jim, Clifford “Butch”, Samuel Gordon, and Carol Joan.
