Horace Jackson

July 24, 1951 — January 29, 2020

Funeral services celebrating the life of Horace Jackson, Jr, 68, of Davenport, will be 11am Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, 929 – 14th St, Rock Island, IL.  Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Monday in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.  Visitation will be from 10am until time of service Saturday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home of Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Jackson passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

Horace was born in Louisville, MS on July 24, 1951, a son of Horace and Florence (Gay) Jackson, Sr.  He was united in marriage to Bernice Grice. They later divorced but remained close friends.

Prior to his retirement he had worked for Farmall International Harvester. He was also a pastor and loved to preach.

In his spare time, he loved to visit the sick and shut ins at local nursing home and hospitals.  Above all he loved to be around his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters Patricia Fearce, Davenport, Jackie Houston, Rock Island, Luciana Hampton, Chicago, Lashawn Grice, Atlanta; sons Randall (Tonney) Coleman, Covington, GA, Christopher Coleman and Arnold Grice, both of Davenport; twenty five grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; and a brother Marshall (Josephine) Jackson, Davenport.

His parents, sisters Zeporia Jackson Hickman, Bobbie Nell Jackson Freeman, Erma Lee Jackson Clark; brothers A.Z., Percy, Ed and Raymond Jackson, preceded him in death.  May they rest in peace.
