William was born on November 24, 1953, to William and Beverly (Truran) Smeed in San Jose, California. He met the love of his life, Cheryl Pickerill, and married her on June 23, 2001. William lived a life rich in passion and dedication, both personally and professionally.
William built a career in auto body work, where he was known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He then transformed his passion for technology into a rewarding position in tech support for gaming systems, allowing him to marry his love for gaming with his professional skills. He had a deep appreciation for video games and enjoyed sharing that enthusiasm with others, often engaging in spirited gaming sessions and lending a hand wherever possible.
Music was another cornerstone of William's life. Growing up, he developed a love for playing electric guitar, performing with several bands in the Bay Area. His passion for music, particularly the glam rock and hair band genres, brought him joy that was evident to all who knew him. This love for music also played a significant role in his social life, where he made lasting memories while jamming with friends and family. In his free time, he enjoyed indulging in his interests as a World War II fanatic, often immersed in books and documentaries about the era.
William is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl, of Davenport; his brother Douglas Smeed of San Jose, CA; and his daughter Hollyann (Dustin) Scott and their boys Odin and Finn.
He was predeceased by his father, William Smeed, his mother, Beverly Smeed, his sister, Charlene Castro, and his beloved cat, Chloe Smeed.
