Wendy Joyce Funk

Wendy J. Funk, 62, of Davenport, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her home surrounded by her beloved family, following courageous and 5-year long battle with pancreatic cancer. A celebration of her life will be held from 1-2pm on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Project Purple.  The family suggests Flowers by Jerri in Davenport for floral arrangements.

Wendy Joyce Hersey was born December 17, 1962, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Eldred and Carol Joyce (McGathy) Hersey. She was united in marriage to Robert “Rob” Funk on June 6, 1984, in Texas.

Wendy obtained her associates degree and worked in medical billing and coding.

Wendy was a doting grandmother to Malachi, Zayah, Bryson, Zariah, and Liam, and loved the time spent with them. She loved sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes, and roller skating.

In addition to her five beautiful grandbabies, those left to carry her memory include her husband Rob; daughters Jessie (Danny Miller) Funk of Davenport and Samantha (Lucy Schultz) Funk of Moline; brother-in-law Richard “Rick” Funk of Davenport; sisters Alice (Michael) Torry Sr. of Kissimmee, FL and Linda Kelly of Panama City, FL; brothers Ralph (Carolyn) Hersey of Southern Pines, NC and Cecil (Terrie) Hersey of Treasure Island, FL; and nieces and nephews Michael Torry Jr, Ross Hersey, Beth Gallegos, Matthew Rainwater, Joseph Rainwater, Cross Wilson, and Tylin Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Miriam Wilson, and nephew Gatlin Wilson.
