Wanda Olson

February 28, 1925 — January 9, 2022

Wanda Olson, 96, died January 9, 2022 at Senior Star, Davenport. A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held. She was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on February 28, 1925 and her final resting place will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

She attended Holyoke High School, Holyoke Business College, received her Associates degree and continued education throughout retirement.

Wanda married Duane (Bud) Olson (deceased) in 1948.  She worked as a legal secretary at the law firm Filseth and Filseth and was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal Headquarters in the ARRCOM division retiring in 1990.

She was a Master Gardener, avid bridge player, volunteer for St. Luke’s Hospital, long-time parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle and had a love for reading. Wanda was passionate about her Polish heritage and traveled to Poland to connect with her roots.

Wanda’s most cherished accomplishment is her six loving children with whom she shared great joy and lifelong conversations filled with love, laughter, advice and warm memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Veronica Barch, her sister and brothers Helen Guenther, Ed and Dan Barch, and two grandchildren Carrie Olson and Brian Boeding.  May they all rest in peace.

Wanda was a Grandmother to Tony Hawley, Jennifer (Tom) Corcoran, Joshua Hawley (Robyn Henry), Jacklyn (Dom) Crisci, Ben (Jamie) Boeding, Sara and (David) Yannuzzo, Dan (Stephanie) Boeding, Brittany Higgins, Tess & Brooke Conly and eight Great Grandchildren.

Survivors to honor her memory include her six children, Kathleen “Tobi” Hawley, St. Louis, MO; Buddy (Betty) Olson, Davenport; David (Karen) Olson, Davenport; Marcia (David) Boeding, Princeton, IA; Anne Olson, Atlanta, GA; and Sharrie (Bob) Conly, Clarence Center, NY;  and many loving family and friends.

In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Congregation of the Humility of Mary.
