Wanda Faye Hughes

Wanda Faye Hughes, age 63, of Davenport, passed away on May 18, 2024, at her home. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. 

 Wanda Faye Hughes was born on December 25, 1960, in Louisville, MS. to Charles and Annie Lee Hughes. The Hughes family relocated to Davenport, Iowa in 1970 where she would attend Davenport school district. Wanda found much pride in being a mother and grandmother. Her sense of humor and love for family made her top choice for hosting family gatherings. She enjoyed, cooking, playing cards, fishing, and going to the casino with her brother Izell, taking road trips with her 3 siblings Elizabeth, Mary and Willie Jr, having coffee every morning while sitting on the porch with the love of her life Earl. One of her many hobbies was gardening. Wanda had a nurturing hand and grew the most beautiful flowers one could only imagine.

 Wanda was preceded in death by both parents, brothers Ray Charles, Robert, Willis, Jimmy Hughes, two sisters Joann, Annie Ruth Hughes and brother in-law Delbert Sykes. Left to celebrate her life and memory; longtime live in companion/common law husband Earl Harrington, her 8 beautiful children: Melissa (Vernon) Long, Elizabeth Hughes, Leanne Hughes (Clifford Hinton), Angela Hughes (Germaine Terry), Ajustin Hughes (Yneeka Howard), Dennis Hughes (Yolanda Nunn), Hope Hughes and Chrisann Hughes (Milo). Siblings: Elizabeth Sykes, Mary Hughes, Diane Cooper (Narvie). Izell (Delores), Willie jr & Willie Cooper, Herbert Lee. Six special nieces and nephews; Delbert Jr and Darross Sykes, Nichole, Tenieka & Jordan Hughes, Jennifer Hughes-Ratcliff whom she raised as her own. 21 grandchildren: Kevonte, O’Dell, Jasmine, Tyvionte, Tavian, Jayden, Ajya, Dennis jr, Alycia, Ajustin jr, Ajustice, Rashad, DaSani, Ajeanti, Maliah, Alana, Majerra, Ja’Cari, Malikhi, Aniyah and Tiffiney. 3 Great grandchildren: Dakiyah, Jakiylah, Luna. 3 bonus grandchildren Brandiyah, Malaki and Messiah, and brother Herbert Lee.
