Walter Belz

Walter E. Belz, 59, of Rock Island, formerly of Davenport, died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Nursing Home, Rock Island after a courageous battle with COPD.  Cremation rites have been accorded and there be no services at this time.  Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Walter Emil Belz was born on December 13, 1959 in Davenport, a son of Shirley Jean (Voss) and Eugene P. Belz, Sr.  Walt was a roofer in the Quad Cities and was a member of the Roofers Local Union #32.

Walt had spent the last 12 years of his life with Chrissy Lederer.  He rode his bike everywhere and enjoyed walking alongside the river with Chrissy.  Walt enjoyed his many friends and also enjoyed fishing whenever he could get out.

Survivors include the love of his life, Chrissy, Rock Island; sons: Joshua Fryxell, Jory Umphrey, both of Rock Island, and Dillon and Derek Belz, both of Montana; many grandchildren; brothers: Philip Belz, Gene (Hilary) Belz, David (Melissa) Belz, all of Davenport, and Dennis (Corina) Belz, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Belz and his parents.
