Virginia Joy Stichter was born on April 27, 1938, in Clinton County, Iowa, a daughter of Emery Hugo and Fina (Fuller) Stichter. She was united in marriage to Donald J. “Don” Martin on June 28, 1958, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. Don preceded her in death on October 5, 2019.

Ginny worked as a realtor in the Quad City area for Yakish, Mel Foster, and Reems Reality. Following Don and Ginny's move to Florida, she worked for the former Seminole Electric.

Ginny enjoyed spending time outdoors, bowling, camping, fishing, and taking long walks, often putting on miles each day. When her children were younger, some of her favorite memories were made on family camping and fishing trips together. She was a dedicated 4-H leader. Above all else, Ginny dearly loved her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She also had a remarkable eye for design and was a talented interior decorator, creating warm and welcoming spaces wherever she lived.

Those left to honor her memory are her children: Mike (Joyce) Martin, Tampa, Florida, Greg Martin, Sandy (Dan) Gayman, all of Davenport, and Jeff Martin, Clearwater, Florida; grandchildren: Shane Martin (Miriam), Jaime Martin (Adam), Jessica (Anna) Martin, and Anna Martin (Andy), Ryan Gayman, Kyle (Kate) Gayman, Tyler Gayman and Amanda (Dinko) Hrnic; great-grandchildren: Camden Gayman, Colton DeJarnette, Ayden Hrnic, Grant Gayman, Drew Gayman, Alijah Hrnic, and Beck Brown; brothers: Rick (Debbie) Stichter, McCausland, Iowa, and Randy Stichter, Iowa City; a sister-in-law, Vicki Stichter, a brother-in-law, Dean Schwanke, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ginny was preceded in death by her daughter, Theresa Martin, grandsons, Curtis Temple and Brendan Martin, her parents, and siblings: Gary (Dorothy) Stichter, Roger (Jackie) Stichter, Harry “Bill” Stichter, Donald “Ducky” Stichter, Darold Stichter, Shirley Schwanke, and a sister-in-law, Janet Stichter. May they all rest in God’s eternal peace.
