Vera Howard

Memorial services for Vera Ann Howard, 62, Davenport, will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 18, 2025, in the All Faith Chapel of Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation is one hour before her service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.

Vera passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at her home. Born on March 12, 1963, in Hughes, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Robert Lee Howard and Lizzie Mae Johnson. Vera was a beautiful woman who deserved the world. She had fond recollections of her younger years with her mom and little brother, her cousins, and her extended family. She was a loving daughter who had taken great care of her mother, whom she adored so much. Her career revolved around customer service as she raised two sons with strength & love and enjoyed watching her family grow. She took great pride in being “Grandma Howard” and cherished the time with her grandkids. Her home was her castle, where she spent her time creating a beautiful garden by hand that is admired by many. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. 

Memorials may be made to the family. 

Those left to honor her memory include her children, James Wilmington Jr., and Julius (Amanda) Wilmington; grandchildren Teryn, Tahlia, Kiara, Tyson, Kadrien, Ealiyah, and Raelynn; brother Willie Lee Johnson; 1 nephew, 2 nieces, 3 great-nephews, 3 great-nieces, and granddogs Bella and Sissy. She was preceded in death by her parents. May they rest in peace.
