Truman W. Markham

Truman Warren Markham passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, of natural causes. 

Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Markham’s life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island with military honors.  Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial at a later date.

Truman was born to Truman M. Markham and Dorothy (Davis) Markham on July 22, 1937. His parents later divorced and Dorothy married Henry Henderkott.

He graduated from Davenport High School in 1955 where he was in the Navy ROTC Program. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (active duty until 1959; honorably discharged in 1963). 

He married Janene Hoeper in 1959. They had two children, Katherine and Steven. Truman worked in the transportation industry in accounting and retired in 1999 after working multiple positions for local businesses. 

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Janene, son Steven (Barbara) Markham, grandsons Christopher Markham and Michael Markham; brothers Archie (Judy) Markham, Donald (Patricia) Henderkott, Sisters Jeanette (Bill) Godbey, Sandra (Dave) Bignell, Joyce Riley, and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepfather, daughter Katherine, Sister and brother-in-law Helen and Ray Bennett, and brother-in-law Gary Riley.
