Obituary

Travis James Payne, affectionately known as "Uncle Boney," passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 24, 2026, at the age of 36.

A visitation and celebration of life will take place at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport, with dates and times to be announced.

Born in Davenport, Iowa, on January 21, 1990, Travis was the cherished son of Christopher Payne and Lisa McCormick. He grew up in the Davenport area and built a life centered around hard work, simple pleasures, and an immense love for his family. Travis was a proud Union Carpenter with Local 4, where he applied his skills and strong work ethic.

Travis was a wonderful young man with a vibrant spirit and a giant heart. Though he never married, his life was full of love, especially when it came to his family. He embraced his role as "Uncle Boney" with fierce pride, adoring his nieces and nephews above all else. An avid outdoorsman, Travis was happiest when he was fishing, hunting, or feeling the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle. He also had a great passion for food, thoroughly enjoying both the art of cooking a good meal and the joy of eating it.

He is survived by his parents, Lisa McCormick and Christopher Payne; his brothers, Dustin (Amanda) Payne and Daniel Payne; and his sisters, Kayla Payne and Brooklynn Payne. He also leaves behind his adored nieces and nephews, as well as many loving extended family members and friends who will miss his warmth and laughter.

Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Janet Payne, and his great-grandmother, Elena Pierce.
