Thomas “Tommy” Hammill, 51, of Davenport, peacefully passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at his home with his beautiful and dedicated wife by his side. Per his request cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, assisted the family. Memorials may be made to the family or Kings Harvest Pet Rescue.

Thomas Andrew Hammill was born November 17, 1974, in Iowa City, to Cheryl “Cheri” Kirkpatrick. He was united in marriage to Dana Millis on May 29, 2004.

Tommy was the kind of person who could walk into a kitchen, look at what was available, and somehow turn it into something worth coming back for. A self-taught chef, he was passionate about cooking and loved nothing more than creating good food and sharing it with the people he loved. For him, cooking was about much more than a meal, it was a way to bring people together. Tommy had previously worked for the The Dock and Blackhawk Hotel restaurants.

Outgoing, funny, and always ready with a good story or a laugh, he had a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. He never needed much of an excuse to have a good time, especially when family and friends were around.

Above all else, he was a great dad and a devoted family man. His family was at the center of his world, and the time he spent with them was what mattered most. Whether gathered around the table, relaxing together, or simply enjoying an ordinary day, those moments were the ones he treasured.

When he wasn't in the kitchen, he enjoyed playing disc golf, floating in the pool, and cheering on his favorite teams. He proudly followed the St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles, giving him plenty of reasons to celebrate, and occasionally plenty to complain about.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Dana; sons Kiefer (fiancée Denise Moore) Hammill and Kyler (Madison Ruefer) Hammill, all of Davenport; sisters Amy (Danny) Warren of Milan, IL, and Mirranda (Steve) Hernandez of Rock Island; mother-in-law Cheryl (John) Osborn of Davenport; father-in-law Charles Millis of Champaign, IL; aunts Cindy (Jim) Curta, Denise (Tighe) Hallowell, and Kay (Dave) Bartosch all of Davenport; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his cats Kennedy and Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Cheri (Bob) Smahaj, grandparents June and Roland Kirkpatrick, uncle Darryl Kirkpatrick, and nephew Blake White.
