Timothy John Smith, 68, Davenport, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by his family. A memorial mass to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. The Mass will be livestreamed by visiting OUR LADY OF LOURDES FACEBOOK Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Noon Optimist Club or the Church.

 

Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 

Tim was born January 31, 1955, in Chicago. He is the son of Donald and Eleanor “Lennie” (Rossman) Smith. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. He was united in marriage to Susan Cox on July 11, 1981 at Our Lady of Lourdes. They have three daughters whom he loves dearly and thoroughly supported in all their activities, especially YMCA Indian Princesses and coaching softball.

 

Prior to his retirement he worked for Ruhl & Ruhl Insurance. He was also a prominent member of the Davenport Noon Optimist Club.

 

Tim loved camping, canoeing, and reading. He also enjoyed listening to all types of music, and planning family vacations. He was an avid fan of the Iowa State Cyclones, the Chicago Cubs, and the Bears. He was also extremely supportive of his grandchildren in all their endeavors.

 

Survivors include his wife Susan; daughters Sunny (fiancé Tim Breed) Smith, Arcata, CA, Britta (Matt McCoy) Ogden, Bettendorf, Kelli Smith, Bettendorf; grandchildren Lily Smith, Ryker Ogden, Eli Smith, Luella Eddy, Marlon Eddy; siblings Kathleen (Mark) Goulson, Decorah, IA, Patricia (Marshall) Ruble, Ames, IA, Tom (Kari) Smith, Crown Point, IN, Theresa (John) Bushman, Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandson Rylan Joseph Ogden and his father and mother.

 

He will always be remembered and loved.
