Thomas Richard Schulz, 80, of Bettendorf, passed away, Sunday, March 15, 2026 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Long Grove. The family will greet friends from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at church on Friday. Burial will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Emerson Cemetery, Emerson, Iowa. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Church.
Thomas was born on October 12, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio son of Richard and Mary (Ward) Schulz. He was united in marriage to Sally Evans on December 29, 1972, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport.
Thomas was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended John Carroll University in Cleveland and graduated from St. Louis University with a business degree. After his service during the Viet Nam War, he graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1972. He started his career at Davenport Bank & Trust, later leading trust departments at the State Bank of Freeport in Illinois, City National Bank of Baton Rouge, and The Rock Island Bank. Afterward, he transitioned to private practice, served as Of Counsel with Pastrnak Law Firm, and eventually established his own office, Schulz Law Firm. He served on the Ridgecrest Foundation Board and was a member of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys, the Iowa State Bar and the Illinois State Bar Associations until his retirement in 2024. He enjoyed golf and introduced his son to the game at a young age. Thomas was also a St. Louis Cardinal baseball and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He will be deeply missed.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Sally, children Matt Schulz, Bettendorf, Iowa and Joanne Schulz, Sarasota, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
