Thomas Lee Davis

September 21, 1937 — November 28, 2025

Davenport

Thomas Lee Davis, 88, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Tom was born on September 21, 1937, the son of Clinton and Jessica (Wieter) Davis. He graduated from Muscatine Catholic High School in 1956. He joined the United States Navy and served for six years. Tom married Marilyn Korte on April 22, 1961, at the Lutheran Church in Muscatine.

He attended trade school and became a tool and die maker. He worked for 42 years at Swans Engineering, Bettendorf. Tom was a self-taught “jack of all trades”. He was an outdoorsman at heart. His passion for hunting geese, deer, turkey, and ducks was matched only by his enthusiasm for fishing. He loved casting a line at the lake and ice fishing during the snowy winter months up North.

In addition to his adventures in the wild, Tom nurtured a love for gardening. He had a vibrant vegetable patch consisting of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and cabbage. Tom was a skilled photographer, capturing images of wildlife, landscapes, eagles, and most importantly, his grandchildren. He loved them more than anything in the world.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Marilyn; daughter, Terri (David) Guzman; grandchildren, Zach (Megan) Stoffers, Anthony (Beth) Stoffers, Travis Stoffers, Jessica (Matt) Irwin, and Dustin Davis; 7 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Robin Davis; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Korte and Jeannie Korte; and nieces, Evie Day and Linda (Robert) McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Davis; nephew, Fred Day; and brothers-in-law, Jack Korte and Tom Korte.

“It will be better next year.”
