Theresa A. Elsner, 71, of DeWitt, died Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Fieldstone of DeWitt following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until Mass begins on Thursday at St. Ann’s. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The family is requesting instead of flowers to make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Theresa Ann Elsner was born on June 19, 1955, in DeWitt, Iowa, a daughter of Aloysius and Mary Genevieve (DeCock) Elsner. She was a 1975 graduate of DeWitt High School.

Theresa worked for many years as an administrative assistant for Iowa Mutual Insurance and also worked at Target in Davenport, as well as Westwing Place and the Dollar Store in DeWitt.

She enjoyed shopping, going to the movies, bowling and watching television programs, especially Walker, Texas Ranger, Criminal Mind, and Bones.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ken Merrill of Ohio and many cousins.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents. May they all rest in eternal peace.
