A Mass of Christian Burial for Terry will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, with interment at the Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors.
Terry was born on September 13, 1943 to Kenneth “Swede” York and Claribel “Cookie” Sweet in Davenport, Iowa. He spent time during his childhood in Davenport and in Concord, CA. He attended schools in Davenport, (Sacred Heart, Holy Family, and Assumption High School) with a year at Loma Vista public school in California. After high school, he spent a year in Indiana with his mother and then returned to Davenport, where he joined the United States Navy in 1963. After his discharge in 1967, his Aunt Betty Graw arranged for a blind date with Gerry Little, and they were soon married and had two daughters, Tammy and Stacy.
Terry worked for the United States Post Office for over 30 years and retired in 2000. After a year of golf and bowling, Terry decided to take a job with the AEA delivering books for the schools. He enjoyed the travel throughout eastern Iowa, but retired in 2015 for health reasons. In 2017, he began working part time for PerMar and especially enjoyed the opportunities he had to watch over the people he protected.
Over the course of his life, he enjoyed coaching young men’s baseball teams, bowling, golfing, euchre tournaments, and spending time at the casino.
He was a member of Holy Family Church and quite often volunteered as an usher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved Aunt Betty Graw, sisters-in-law Sue York and Betty York, and one great grandson Everest Sposeto.
