Terence "Terry" Earl Miller

Terry Miller died unexpectedly while enjoying a much anticipated adventure of snorkeling in Costa Rica with his wife of 45 years by his side.

He was born June 30, 1944 in Dubuque, Iowa to Earl Miller and Clara Burke Miller. He spent his childhood in Hanover, Illinois until 1962 when he joined The United States Air Force. He served at the Toul-Rosieres Air Base France as an air traffic controller until being honorably discharged in 1966. His 36 year career with the Federal Aviation Administration started at O’Hare International Airport as an air traffic control specialist and ended when he retired as manager of the Moline Air Traffic Control Tower in 2001.

Terry led a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. He was a kind and thoughtful soul, lifelong learner and proud family man.

An avid golfer, he got his hole-in-one and was able to watch the sport he loved at the Masters Tournament in Augusta as well as The Open in Royal Portrush, Ireland. He embraced his Irish roots through a lifetime of shenanigans. He also enjoyed playing cards, cribbage tournaments, working in the yard, cooking great meals and dancing in the kitchen.

When you think of his infectious smile and shared good times, the family requests you remember him with a toast to a life well lived.

Although gone he’ll live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Margaret "Peg" Brennan-Miller; daughter Stephanie (Michael) Reid of Colchester, VT; sons Garrick Miller, Mundelein, IL; Sean (Elizabeth) Miller, Davenport; Patrick Miller, Bettendorf; and grandchildren Emma (Brendan) Rohan, Nick Urbahn, and Lillie Reid of Vermont; Jocelyn, August, Emmett, Paul and Henry Miller of Davenport and Bettendorf; great grandsons Boaz Urbahn and Jack Rohan; brother Thomas and sister-in-law Nancy Miller, Hanover, IL; sister Deb Hayes, Galena, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Michael and Kathleen Finucane, Dexter, NY; brother-in-law Michael Brennan, Grand Rapids, MI; sister-in-law Betsy Geary, Denver, CO; and many cherished nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
