Sylvia Anne Heaton, 90, died Monday, October 20, 2025 at the Kahl Home, Davenport. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Sylvia will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service in the gathering space at church.
Sylvia was born July 5, 1935 in Davenport to Richard C. and Elsie (Berger) Bane. She attended Holy Family School, graduating from the Immaculate Conception Academy. She was a cheerleader, enjoyed bowling and loved ice skating. For 20 years after graduation, she attended monthly card club with her ICA friends.
Sylvia married Frank C. McAllister on August 13, 1955. They had 7 children. They later divorced. She went back to work in the accounting department at the Rock Island Arsenal, receiving several service awards.
She married Clyde Heaton on October 10, 1981. Together they enjoyed camping along the Cedar River, traveling, and watching the Hawkeyes. She loved their dog, Jonny. After Clyde died in 2003, she returned to Davenport. She was very proud of her new condo and furnishings.
For the last 13 years, Sylvia has been at the Kahl Home. They provided safety, security, companionship, and the ability to attend daily Mass. She enjoyed crafts, Bingo, and Happy Hour!
Sylvia is survived by her 7 children: Judy (Mike) Bauer, David McAllister, Diane McAllister, Sharon (Ed) Warner, Rick McAllister, Tom McAllister (Janice Guimond), and Bob McAllister; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Kathy and her husband Jack Miller.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters and their spouses, Eleanor Bane and Gary Wildasin, and Marilyn and John Hannan.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care provided by the nuns and staff of the Kahl Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kahl Home, or the Vera French Mental Health Center.
