Susan Jean DeVine

Susan J. DeVine, 71, of Davenport, died Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Harmony – Locust Street, Davenport with her family by her side.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date. Memorials may be made in memory of Susan to your charity of your choice. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Susan was born on August 28, 1953 in DeWitt, Iowa, a daughter of William Pierre and Mary “Helen” (Blanche) DeVine.

After graduating from Central High School in 1972, she modeled her career after her mother’s and began working at Fresh Pak Candy Company, followed by Brach’s Candy Company. She greatly enjoyed the years she was employed and the opportunity she was given to work with her mom and make many friends over the years. When she was blessed with nieces and nephews, she decided to change careers and opened a daycare to help look after them.

Susan will be remembered for her love of board and card games as well as being an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. She cherished times when her family gathered in the open air of a park to share food and play games. Above all, she will be remembered for her love of family.

Susan is survived by siblings: Deb (Mike) Williams, Mary Lou Alderson, Steve DeVine, Joe (Theresa) DeVine, Jan Eliff, Tom (Marcy) DeVine, Mike (Oi) DeVine, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Barb Shirley, Bill DeVine, John DeVine, Patrick DeVine, Jerry DeVine, Bob DeVine, and Rick DeVine, and sister-in-law Janice DeVine.
