Steve Trumbo

Steve Trumbo, 74, of Bettendorf, passed away on Saturday, 29, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Stephen Casey Trumbo was born on October 15, 1951 in Davenport, a son of Claude “Bill” and Jackie (Crosby) Trumbo. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1969. Steve then went on to college at Northeast Missouri State and the University of Iowa.

Steve was united in marriage to Deborah Tallman on March 18, 1972 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf.

Steve loved his Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and playing golf with his friends.

He was very proud of his business, Sports Fans Pizza, a business he built and ran for thirty-six years. Steve made all the pizza dough and perfected every one of his recipes. He loved seeing customers come in and enjoy all the different sporting events. Steve hosted many special guests over the years including Tiger Woods (who sent Steve a signed pin flag from his first major tournament victory), and the entire Iowa Hawkeye basketball team coached by Dr. Tom Davis who came in to watch Iowa football take on Minnesota on the satellite tv.

Survivors include his loving wife, Debbie, Bettendorf; sons, Matthew (Melissa) Trumbo, Davenport, Kelly Trumbo, Davenport; grandchildren: Taylor (Haley), Waukee, Kaylee, Iowa City, and Kayden, Davenport; a great-grandson, Brody, Waukee, and a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy (Jim) Thigpen, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jackie, and a brother, Scott. May they rest in peace.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held in the Spring of 2026. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made in Steve’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, King’s Harvest Pet Rescue, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
