Stephen "Steve" James Stouffer, 67, of Davenport, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Medical Center East, surrounded by his beloved family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, beginning at 12:30 PM, with a funeral service immediately following at 1:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the VFW Bettendorf or a charity of your choosing.

Steve was born on January 14, 1959, in Davenport, to Albert "Al" Clayton Stouffer Sr. and Verna Imojean Neese—but in the chapters that followed, you simply couldn't think of Steve without thinking of Shelly. Their 1987 meeting sparkled into a lifelong bond, culminating in their Davenport wedding on November 13, 1999. They were, in every sense, the absolute love of each other's lives.

Steve was a gruff man—a grizzly bear who adored his family and friends. He was a dedicated father to his stepdaughter, Danielle, whom he raised as his own despite her initial attempts to "parent trap" him when he first entered her life. Steve would selflessly stay up until midnight helping her with homework despite early work mornings.

He taught his daughter and grandkids how to drive on a lawnmower, carefully setting up cones in the yard. Steve was there for whatever was going on—dances, birthdays, and any milestone event his grandkids had. He taught his grandson how to fish and cherished every single moment spent with his family.

A vibrant personality who loved a good argument, Steve was happiest drinking beer on the driveway with his neighbors and friends. He loved rock 'n' roll music and was an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for the Broncos, Hawkeyes, and Cardinals. Steve was a generous soul who would drop everything to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Weiland (Erik Schroeder); his beloved grandchildren, Johnny "JT" Weiland and Brooklynn "Squeak" Stuckel; his sister, Connie DeKeuninck; his brother, Brian Stouffer (Mary Olson); and his cousin, who was like a brother to him, Al "Jr." Stouffer.

Steve was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Shelly; his parents; his brother, Albert II; and his sister, Denise McDuffy.
