On December 17, 2023, Gaudete “Joy” Sunday, the Lord called Sophia Thérèse MacDonald to her heavenly home. The daughter of Ryan and Theresa (Axelson) MacDonald, of Blue Grass, Sophia was born on November 10, 2022 and surprised all with her trisomy 13 diagnosis a few days later. After a 48-day NICU stay, she came home to finally meet her brother and sister. She loved being doted on by her siblings, and her unique laugh would bring joy to all around her. Her breath-taking beauty was highlighted by her gorgeous red hair and enormous smile. She loved when Daddy would sneak her a Twizzler, and enjoyed her quiet time snuggling Mommy every night while watching movies. She was a pure gift to all who knew her.
Sophia is survived by her parents; big brother Joseph; big sister Gianna; Grandparents Michael and Veronica Axelson of Germantown Hills, IL, Martin and Susan MacDonald of Ottawa, IL; maternal great grandparents Richard and Patricia LaHood of Washington, IL; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by paternal great grandparents Hugh and Sue Travi, George and Donna MacDonald, and Harold and Colette Axelson.
