Shelly Louise Sheehy, 68, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island, Illinois. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal services held.

Shelley was born on February 28, 1958, in Iowa, a daughter of Lawrence and Eileen (Doyle) Sheehy. She was one of 12 children. She graduated from Western Dubuque High School and furthered her education at The University of Northern Iowa.

She dedicated much of her career to helping others. While in school, she served as a personal assistant to the president of UNI and his family. Upon graduation, she served as a caseworker for Congressman Dave Nagel. She also served as an economic consultant to the REC-Rural Electric Company for 3 years. Shelley served on the board of the National Community Reinvestment Company for 20 years and was still serving on the board of the Economic Growth Corp of Rock Island, still writing grants through them to local Project Now. She was also on the board of the Friends of KUNI, the Irish Society of the QCA, a member of the Sierra Club for 15 years, and a case worker at John Lewis Coffee Shop, a Quad City organization that helps the homeless. Shelley was extremely selfless, often taking on unpaid roles.

Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted partner of 30 years, Frank Holst; siblings, Larry Sheeny, Cyndi (Terry) McDermott, Kim (Kate) Sheehy, Dale (Nancy) Sheehy, Todd Philip Sheehy, George (Sonya) Sheehy, Mary Sheehy, and Rena (Ernie Bolibaugh) Sheehy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Brian Sheehy, Teresa Nothem, and Jim Sheehy.
