Serjio A. Casillas, 84, of Davenport, died Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Serjio will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island with military honors. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Friday in the gathering space at church. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Foundation or to the Parish. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Serjio Adolpho Casillas was born on August 17, 1941, in Moline, a son of Max and Grace (Ysais) Casillas. He graduated from St. Ambrose College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Serjio proudly served our country in the Marine Corps from 1961 until 1965. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. “Liz” Harper on April 8, 1967, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Muscatine. They have shared over 58 years of marriage together.
Serjio was employed at Ralston-Purina prior to continuing his career at John Deere, primarily as a supervisor in the Parts Distribution Center in Milan. He was well loved at work, always lighting up the day with his positive energy. Serjio retired in December of 2001 following twenty-five years of service.
Serjio cherished time spent with his family and attending their many activities. He had his pilot’s license and would fly out of the Davenport Airport with his neighbor, Jim Orr as well as attending air shows throughout the Midwest. He had a passion for the military and enjoyed sharing stories with others who served. Serjio also enjoyed playing cards, reading, spending time on the farm and taking his kids fishing at West Lake Park. He was a man of great faith with a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother, Serjio will be remembered for his beautiful smile and warm, kind heart.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Liz, Davenport; children and their spouses: Sergio (Rhonda) Casillas, Spring Hill, Tennessee, Lisa (Patrick) Smalls, San Antonio, Texas, Matthew (Becca) Casillas, Davenport, and Andrew (Savanah) Casillas, Fairview, Tennessee; grandchildren: Rachael, Bryan, Kimberly, Alyssa, Casey, Maya, Leila, Bear, Noni, Sasha, and Eli; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Robert (Fay) Casillas, Vero Beach, Florida, Sandra (Dave) Julius, Mequon, Wisconsin, and Julie Moore, Moline and well as the extended Harper family and many nieces and nephews.
Serjio was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law, a niece and great-nephew. May they rest in peace.
