Sendia Ann Bates, 64, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on October 31, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sendia’s life and legacy during visitation services at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport, on November 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Additional visitation will take place at Mt. Moriah Jehovah Jireh Church of God in Christ on November 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Sendia was born on August 3, 1961 to Robert L. Davis and Fronia (Gillispe) Davis in Mississippi. She lived a life characterized by kindness, warmth, and an infectious sense of humor that made those around her feel at ease. Sendia dedicated herself to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She completed her CNA courses through Scott County Community College and spent years in the healthcare field, where her compassionate nature and dedication provided comfort and solace to those in need.
On March 16, 1983 Sendia married the love of her life, Lee Bates, in Louisville, Mississippi. Together, they built a loving family, which includes their children and their many cherished grandchildren.
Sendia is survived by her loving husband, Lee Bates; her children, Kenesa Davis, Kwdasha Davis, Cornelius (Von) Davis, and Ashley Bates, all of Davenport; grandchildren, Fredarius, Nykevia, Zhkeria, Frederick Jr., Christopher, Kendrilah, Jody, Kenzie, DJ, and Chloe; her great-granddaughter, Rhoyaltee; her brothers, Robert Davis, Jimmy Davis, and Howard Davis; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Fronia; her son, Joey Davis; her daughter, Maranda Bates-Fraizer; her granddaughter, Kenya Fraizer; her sisters Betty Hearton, Angela Davis, and Louise Davis; and her brother, Henry Davis, all of whom her spirit has reunited with in eternal rest.
Sendia Ann Bates will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on through the love that she gave and the countless lives she touched.
