Sanford “Sandy” Remley, 86, of Blue Grass, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 10th, 2024 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Blue Grass. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or Blue Grass Fire Department.
Sandy was born on May 18, 1938 in Davenport, son of Frederick and Mildred (Madsen) Remley. He was united in marriage to Darlene Boland on May 14, 1960.
Sandy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He retired after 30 years of service with the USPS in various roles, and later was the Public Works Director and Building Commissioner for the City of Blue Grass. Sandy was a car guy and traveled to many NASCAR races with family and friends. He had coached softball for many years and enjoyed snowmobiling. In later years he became an avid reader and found joy in jigsaw puzzles. Above all he loved his family and looked forward to family gatherings.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Darlene; children Suzanne (Jeff) Barnum, Lizanne (Paul) Hartman, Julianne Hofeldt, and Christian (Tonya) Remley; grandchildren Adrianne, Kaitlyn Clark, Chris (Jordan) Dunn, Amanda (Josh) Webber, Andrue Higbee, Brooke (Scott) Biederman and Corrie Remley; great-grandchildren Degan, Mitchell, Cooper, Calli, Liam, Kaier, Riley, Jacob, Brecken, Blaire, Millie, Macie, Camden, Michael, Paul, Bradley, Brekin and Sebastian; sister and brother-in-law Karen and LaMar Lucas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stephanie and Bob White; and special nephew Fred Remley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith Remley and sister-in-law Darlene Remley.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Good Samaritan Society and Genesis Hospice for their care of Sandy.
