Sandra K. O’Neill, 88, of Davenport, died Friday, March 6, 2026, at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, East Moline.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Sandra will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be at a later date in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Nolan Settlement, Iowa. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the Mass begins in the gathering space at Our Lady of Victory. Keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial at a later date.
Sandra Kathryn Kaefring was born on December 30, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Faye) Kaefring. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1956. Sandra was united in marriage to James Michael O’Neill on November 4, 1957, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City.
Sandy worked for the J.C. Penney District Office and later at the Scott County Courthouse where she retired from in 1995.
Sandy had great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gambling and shopping and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes as well as her monthly card club gatherings.
Those left to honor her memory are her children: Shelli (Greg) Miller, Kevin (Tahsha) O’Neill, all of Davenport, Kelli (Jim) McClurg, Urbandale, Iowa, and Eric (Michelle) O’Neill, Manhattan, Illinois; grandchildren: Anthony (Emily), Holly (Brad), Joseph (Matt) Sara (Andy), Ben (Megan), Luke (Kate), Bailey, Connor (Kayla), Billy, Brock (Shelby), and Eli; great-grandchildren: Holden, Peyton, Rowan, Hayes, Maddie, J.J., Nic, Eoin, and Griffin; great-grandchild, C.J.; siblings, Carol Sueppel, Tom (Carol) Kaefring, Trudy (Tom) Meyers, Gina (Inda) Kaefring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Jim, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael O’Neill, her parents, and a sister, Ruth Cary. May they rest in eternal peace.
