Samantha “Sammie” K. Schadel, 37, of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis, Davenport. A celebration of life will be held at Cross Point Baptist Church, 3400 W Central Park Ave, Davenport, at 2:30 pm, on November 18, 2026. Private burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery.
Samantha Kay Schadel was born on May 23, 1989, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Marty Schadel and Susan (Stinocher) Harrington. She attended Bettendorf High School and later enlisted in the United States Army.
Sammie was the kind of friend you would always want. She was often checking in on those she cared about most. Her innocent, cheerful spirit never let her know a stranger. She had a funny wit about her, always making people around her laugh. Sammie was known for her “chicken nugget dance” and becoming a crazy cat lady. She adored her furry kitties, Nova and Zoe.
Sammie loved walking and staying athletic. She enjoyed exercising and cooking, although she may not have been the best cook, she still gave it her all. Through everything she overcame in her life, she always remained humble and capable. Working hard came second nature to Sammie, which is why she was a wonderful mother. She loved her kids more than anything and strived to raise them with discipline and nurture them with love.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ayden Schadel, Jaxson Schwerdtfeger, and Carter Wheeler; her parents, Susan (Will) Harrington and Marty (Tamra) Schadel; siblings, Nick (Kathleen) Dreher, Jacqueline (James) Schadel, Jessica (Vincent) Parr, and Gabrielle Harrington; fiancé, Zach Wheeler; grandparents, Gerald (Patricia) Schadel; numerous nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jan Stafford, William Stinocher, and Dee Harrington; and furry companion, Gilbert
