Ryan C. McDermott

Funeral services to honor the life of Ryan C. McDermott, 16, of Davenport, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Please wear your Team Ryan shirts, anything purple, Seahawks or a sports jersey, or racing gear; all things Ryan loved.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. A celebration of life will be held Saturday November 5th from 4 until 9 p.m. at the Starlight Ballroom, 2815 W Locust St, Davenport, IA 52804.

Ryan Christopher McDermott was born March 9, 2006, in Davenport, son of Bradley W. and Tina L. (Stuckel) McDermott Sr. 

Ryan had an incredible, courageous, and fighting spirit. While battling a rare form of Epilepsy, Dravet Syndrome, he persevered through so many challenges in his life with the loving care of his family. He had the best smile and facial expressions. And like his pal, The Grinch, his heart kept growing and growing.  Ryan loved to be outside, especially camping with his family and going to the racetrack.  He also loved to support the Seattle Seahawks and adored his niece, Palmer Jo.  Ryan’s inspiration touched many lives, and it’s hard to put into words the loss that his family and friends feel. He will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Ryan’s spirit are his parents: Tina and Brad McDermott Sr., siblings: Travis (Carly) Keeney, Eldridge, Jacob Walker, Bradley W. (Kayla) McDermott Jr., Morgan (Michael Womack) McDermott, and Shawn (Bailey Morris) McDermott; all from Davenport. nieces and nephew: Sadie, Paizley, Maverick, and Palmer Jo; grandparents: Roxanne Griffith, Sandy McDermott, and Ordean (Cindy) McDermott and many other loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his aunt Tracy.
