Ruth E. Reynolds

Ruth E. Reynolds, a resident of Davenport, died Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Genesis East in Davenport.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Private burial will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Ruth was born August 17, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of George F. and Rosalind E. (Hopkins) Kucharo. She married Louis “Lou” Reynolds, October 10, 1948. He preceded her in death, September 27, 2004.

Ruth was a true public servant, trailblazer and served her community with pride and grace.  She was Deputy City Clerk for the City of Davenport, then served as the 8^th Ward Alderman and Mayor pro tem for many years.

She was a member of Davenport Business and Professional Women, serving as local and state president.  She invested her time and energy for the German American Heritage Center for several years.  She also enjoyed her memberships in Kiwanis, League of Women Voters, Women’s Encouragement Board, Older Women’s League and other civic endeavors.

Those left to honor her legacy and memory include her daughter, Cindy (Joseph) Winckler of Davenport; daughter-in-law, Pat Reynolds of Davenport; five grandchildren, Joseph Winckler, Courtney (Winckler) Schemmel, Angela (Parrish) Mershon, Jessica (Beranek) Lawson, Jacob Reynolds; nine great grandchildren, Cory Hale, Dylan Lawson, EJ, Haley, Meghan and Samuel Schemmel, Jacob Reynolds, Alex and Jack Winckler;  and one great-great grandchild, Colt Lawson.

In addition to her parents, brother  and  husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen.
