Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth Kessler, 95 of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport with additional visitation on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the gathering space at church. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory.

Ruth died Wednesday, June 25, 2025 in Davenport.

Ruth Alene Welsh was born on August 17, 1929 in South Dayton, New York, a daughter of Herbert and Pauline (Meyers) Welsh and was raised in Pennsylvania. Ruth was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Kessler on November 29, 1947 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2003 following almost 56 years of marriage.

Ruth worked as a supervisor for Nichols Homeshield for over 38 years, retiring in 1997.

Ruth was a longtime member of Our Lady of Victory Parish. She enjoyed collecting dolls, frogs, and owls, trips to the casino, crocheting, and had a great love of her pets. She was also known for her meatloaf and apple pie.

Those left to honor her memory are her children: Michael (Linda) Kessler, Spokane Valley, Washington, Cindi (Terry) Erbst, Blue Grass, Dennis (Lisa) Kessler, Oceanside, California, and Melissa (Rick) Clampitt, San Juan Capistrano, California; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Ruiz, Florence, Arizona.

In addition to her husband, Larry, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Carl Ross, and siblings, Robert Welsh, Roberta Lane, and Roy Welsh. May they rest in peace.
