Rodney Charles Myers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society. To honor Rodney's life, a visitation will be held on July 23, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a graveside service to follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery.
Rodney was born on August 5, 1941, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Frank and Mary (Veihl) Myers. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. Rodney married Lynn Rush in Rock Island on July 26, 1968.
One of Rodney’s greatest joys in life was fishing. He was known for his great sense of humor, often bringing laughter to those around him and making it his mission to brighten the days of family and friends. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, and expanding his movie collection, especially Abbott & Costello movies, reflecting his love for classic comedy. Rodney was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes, always ready to root for his teams with enthusiasm. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his buddies, creating lasting memories through these shared experiences. Rodney loved to dance. Among his proudest accomplishments, Rodney cherished the times he got to dance at the Hollywood Bowl. This memory is a testament to his vibrant spirit and zest for life.
Rodney leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Myers; sons, Kelly (Dana) Myers, Rusty (Angie) Foley, and John (Lori) Foley; daughter, Sue Dibbern; grandsons, Bennett (Alaina) Foley, Brandon (Ashley) Foley, John Foley, Jr., Joey Foley, and Isaac Dibbern; granddaughter, Jessica (Scott) Cox; six great-grandchildren; brother, Mickey Cartwright; nephews, Mick Cartwright and Ryan Myers; and niece Brandy Cartwright-Edwards.
In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by daughters, Sharon Foley and Traci Brown, son Brian Foley, son-in-law, Chuck Dibbern, and sister, Linda Myers.
Rodney Charles Myers will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched. His laughter will echo in the hearts of his loved ones, and his legacy of kindness and humor will continue to inspire those who knew him.
