Roberta Meiner

November 24, 1944 — January 12, 2026

Traverse City, Michigan

Roberta Meiner, age 81, changed her address from Traverse City, Michigan, to the streets of glory in Heaven, where she met her Lord and Savior on January 12, 2026.

Roberta was the daughter of John and Nora (Schroeder) Spring; she was born in Davenport, Iowa, on November 24, 1944. Roberta attended Davenport High School and was a library assistant, and graduated in 1963. She married Duane Ferrel on December 7, 1963. Roberta was a loving mother to her 4 children.

She loved to travel, and no matter where she and Duane were going, she had children with them. Roberta loved to cook and prepare meals for others, especially when camping; no matter if it was pancakes or chicken, it did not matter; she enjoyed what she did. Roberta worked for Davenport Schools as cafeteria manager at West High School. Roberta loved her church and her walk with Jesus Christ, her Savior; her relationship with Jesus was number one in her life. Roberta had a drive to tell others about God and His great love and forgiveness through Jesus on the cross and the empty Tomb, which gave her the hope and promise of Eternal life.

After her husband, Duane, passed away in February of 1990, Roberta was seeking God’s direction in her life, and she was led to become a minister to the hurting and those that needed to be loved. In 1991, Roberta met pastor Don Meiner at a district function, and they began dating and were married January 18, 1992.

Roberta became the pastor's wife and loved the people that God brought into her life. They believed in an open door, never turning those in need away; in fact, it was known that the Meiner house would always have guests at the table for Sunday dinner. Roberta went on to follow her call from God as to minister to the hurting; finishing her studies and being Ordained an Elder in the Church of The Nazarene in June 1999. Between her work as a minister and co-pastor and her job of overseeing the food program at Shiloh Park Church Camp and Retreat Center in Marion, Indiana.

She always found time for family and friends; Roberta loved her children and grandchildren and great grand kids. She also loved quilting, needle point, and toll painting when she had time, and she did some wonderful crafts, always for others with love.

Her life was one filled with love for others and a kind word to be shared, even in her last days when nurses came into her home. She would say how nice they were and always told them that she loved them. Roberta’s main thought in life was to lift Jesus Christ, her Savior, up and to share his love with all.

Roberta was preceded in death by her mom and dad; her first husband, Duane Ferrel; grandson, Justin Arnold; brother, Vernon Spring; sister-in-law, Diana Spring; and a sister, Arlene (JJ) Poorman.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 33 years, Don Meiner; children: Allen (Trish) Ferrel, Johnnie (Brenda) Ferrel, Karie (Edward) Moss, Jeffrey (Lauri) Ferrel; step-son, Scott Meiner; Kellie Meiner; grandchildren: Matthew (Melissa) Ferrel, Megan (Syngen) Case, Ashley (Nate) Burmeister, Jessica, Jonathan; step-grandchildren: Matthew, Meghan, Mckenzie; and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Spring, and her twin brother, Robert (Karen) Spring.
