Robert G. Specht

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Gregory Specht, 91, of Monmouth, IA, will be held at 10am on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  The rite of cremation will follow.  The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Tuesday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Specht passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport.

Robert was born May 26, 1932, in Bellevue, IA, the eighth of ten children born to George and Theresa (Gerardy) Specht.  While attending the University of Iowa he met fellow student Bernardine “Berdie” Kruszynski and they were united in marriage on April 8, 1961, in Iowa City. 

Prior to his retirement in 1998, he had been senior vice-president of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Indianapolis. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Berdie; sons Bob Specht of Davenport, Stephen Specht of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren Jacqueline (Craig) Cohoon, Wayne Matthew (Matasha) Specht, Carolanne Specht, Kameron Wamer, Kay Wamer, Richard (Laura) Willer; and seven great grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Theresa Wamer, son Wayne Specht, and nine siblings.
