Robert Slawson

April 18, 1960 — February 11, 2026

East Moline

Robert Slawson, 65, of East Moline, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11th at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, surrounded by the love of his family.

Robert was born on April 18, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa, to Robert and Bertha (Lusso) Slawson. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Beth” Flatman, on May 22, 1982, in Davenport. Together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and devotion to family.

Robert earned his associate’s degree and went on to establish a respected and successful career as an HVAC and Controls Technician. He was known for his strong work ethic, technical skill, and the pride he took in doing a job right. Whether troubleshooting a complex system or helping someone in need, Robert was dependable, steady, and generous with his knowledge.

Outside of work, Robert’s true joy was found in the simple and meaningful things in life. He took pride in doing things himself and doing them well. He was rarely still, always planning the next project — whether it was building, repairing, remodeling, or adding thoughtful touches that made the house truly his own. His craftsmanship and dedication are reflected in every corner of the home he so lovingly maintained.

Robert was also a devoted NASCAR fan. Race days were something he looked forward to, whether he was watching his favorite drivers or working on building his collection. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he loved sharing the excitement.

He was a natural jokester with a quick wit and a playful sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes. Whether it was a perfectly timed one-liner, a harmless prank, or a story delivered with his signature grin, he loved to make people laugh.

Above all, Robert treasured his role as “Grandpa.” His grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved to simply sit and enjoy their company or push them on the swing outside. He created memories that will live on in their hearts forever. His patience, humor, and gentle guidance made him a steady presence in their lives.

Those left to honor his memory include his devoted wife, Beth; his children, Brian (December) Slawson, Jennifer (Lee) Brandt, and Rebecca (Mikey) Bixby; and his beloved grandchildren: Brielle, Laurel, Wyatt Brandt, and Addisyn, Harper, and Kylo Bixby; sister, Deborah (Tim) Trout and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. Slawson, Bertha D. Jones and step-dad Marvin F. Jones; his sister, Diane Slawson; and his brother, Donnie Slawson.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 10am until time of services at the funeral home.

Robert will be remembered for his steady presence, his skilled hands, his generous heart, and the deep love he had for his family. To his family he was “Robbie” and his legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories that will forever be treasured.
