Robert Applyby, Sr.

Robert Lee Appleby, Sr., 75, of Davenport, passed away, Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Robert was born on March 23, 1951 in Iowa, son of Home and Jewel (Hendricksen) Appleby. He was united in marriage to Cynthia Coblentz on August 2, 1971.

Robert worked for the City of Davenport for over 44 years before his retirement. He found joy in camping with his family and playing horseshoes. He could often be found hunting, fishing or working in the yard to pass the time. Robert enjoyed life and helping people. In his younger years he was known to be a dancing fool. He also found joy in country music and the oldies. Above all he loved his family and cherished the time spent with them. He will be deeply missed.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Cynthia; son Robert Appleby, Jr.; grandchildren Jeremy Agan, Robert Appleby, III and Ricky Appleby; great grandchildren Madison Appleby, Landon Agan and Isabella Agan; and siblings Homer Appleby, Terry Appleby, Jimmy Appleby, Peggy Waldron and Cleo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Gregory and Michael Appleby and siblings Ralphie, Jerry and Betty.
