Rita M. Thomsen

Rita Mae Thomsen, 90, a resident of Davenport, died Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or Girls Scouts. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rita was born August 24, 1932 in Davenport, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Holst) Clemmens. She married Kenneth Thomsen, May 16, 1951. He preceded her in death, November 15, 2008.

Rita was a professional volunteer; very active in her church, hospice, and the German Heritage Center. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and trainer.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Becky Hahn, Cyndi (Steve) Prachar, and Wendy (Austin) Henry, all of Davenport; grandchildren, Michael, Keith, Mark, Amanda, and Andrew; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Clemmens of Davenport and Marcia (Jon) Evers of Springfield, Illinois.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
