Rita was born to Carl Jr. and Ruby (Finck) Ferris on July 02, 1952, in Davenport, IA. After graduating from North Scott High School, she ultimately landed at Oscar Mayer where she worked until she retired after 34 years. Rita worked in the product control department for many of those years. While at Oscar Mayer, she met her soulmate, Fred Glade, they were inseparable and married on April 12, 1980, in Davenport. They loved to dance, go to concerts and live life to the fullest! Fred preceded her in death March 1, 2019.
Rita enjoyed writing personalized poems to share with loved ones, reading, bargain shopping and taking photos. She had a unique whistle that became her trademark and it followed with playing a tune with her hands. Rita did a lot of volunteering over the years in addition to being a loving mother, a caring wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She adored her grandchildren and the time they were able to spend together. She had an infectious smile and bubbly personality spreading her cheer wherever she went. Rita had the pleasure and bragging rights of being the only one in the family who made a hole in one at the Rustic golf course, with her mother as a witness, on hole #7.
Throughout her entire life, Rita held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.
Rita will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Ange Glade, Rock Island, Todd (Tori) Glade, West Des Moines, IA, Mindy Glade, Davenport, Mother, Ruby Ferris, Eldridge, Siblings Rod (Rachel) Ferris, Maysville, Ken (Peg) Ferris, Blue Grass and Jody Struve. She is also survived by her grandchildren Taylor, Trevor, Marquis, Mia, Mariah, Maliyah, Korey and Kamron as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Rita joins her loving husband, Fred Glade and her father Carl Ferris, Jr. in heaven.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the whole staff at the Wheatland Manor Nursing home for the care and compassion they gave Rita over the years. We also want to thank all the friends who kept in touch with her during the years of her illness.
