Davenport –

Richard “Dick” Allen Aney passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, surrounded by his family at his residence in Davenport. The funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Dick will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1923 N. Fillmore St., Davenport, IA 52804. The burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park, 1022 E 39th St., Davenport, IA 52807. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport, IA 52803. There will be a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. that all are invited to attend.

Dick Aney was born June 8, 1939, in Superior, Wisconsin. He was the son of Otis and Dorothy (Le Roux) Aney. Dick married Barbara Whiting on September 16, 1961, in Davenport.

Dick worked at Nichols-Homeshield, Inc. in Davenport before retiring in 2002 after 46 years. He was an avid bass fisherman and was a member of many organizations including the Q.C. Bass Club, the Rock Island Conservation Club, and the Bushwhackers Husband and Wife Club. He loved hunting, camping, and playing pool, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to honor Dick’s memory include his loving wife of over 56 years, Barbara, and their children, Jeanne (John) Lerschen, (of Dick's first marriage) Viola, IL; Preston (Lilly) Berry, San Antonio, TX; Richard (Laurie) Aney, Blue Grass, IA; and Sharon (Doug) Weber, Davenport, IA; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Julie (Gary) Laberdie; and a niece, Carrissa (Tim) Peterson, both of Superior, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Kenneth Aney (Also of Dick's first marriage)

Memorials may be made to the Rock Island Conservation Club.

Tuesday March 6, 2018 , 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home

A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
