Richard L. “Andy” Anderson, 87, of Walcott, formerly of Blue Grass died Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by his wife and sons. Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Blue Grass. The Mass will be livestreamed by visiting Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home Facebook Page Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m. at church. Memorials may be sent to Beacon of Hope Hospice. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Andy was born on October 8, 1935 in Davenport, a son of LeRoy Hartwin and Grace Dorothy (Geurtsen) Anderson. He proudly served our country in the Navy aboard the USS Robert F. Keller and the USS Coats. Andy was united in marriage to Joyce E. Tathwell on May 25, 1957 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. They have shared over 66 years of marriage, memories, and laughs together.
He worked for 40 years as a sheet metal worker for Johnson’s and Schebler’s, retiring in 1995 and was a proud lifetime member of Sheetmetal Workers Local 91.
He was a founding member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Post 532.
Andy cherished his family, and was constantly bragging about his boys. He had a great sense of humor, and a saying or quote about any situation. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and playing golf.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Joyce, Walcott; sons: Jeffery (Linell) Anderson, Malabar, Florida, James Anderson, East Moline, and a daughter-in-law, Becky Anderson, Blue Eye, Missouri; His family is blessed with eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded in death by his son, Joseph, his parents, and brothers, Donald and David Anderson. May they rest in peace.
