Raymond M. “Raymo” Claeys, 76, a resident of Eldridge, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family.

Raymo was born November 15, 1946 in Davenport, the son of Felix and Rita (DeSchepper) Claeys. He married Peggy Haupt. They later divorced.

Raymo served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was in the Special Forces Unit, known as the Green Berets. Raymo enjoyed hanging out with his friends, and always had a joke for any occasion.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Jeni (Jim) Kipper of LeClaire, and Sarah (Cristian) Carlton of Eldridge; grandsons, Bryce, Dawson, Logan, Colton, Cody, Chase, Colton, Caden, and Coy; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Callum; brother, Francis Claeys of Eldridge; sisters, Mary Ann (David) Schanze of Grand Mound, and Madonna Hughes of DeWitt; and his best pal, Dave Vens.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
