Randolph “Randy” Young, 70, of Rock Island, IL, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 16, 2025, at Trinity Hospital, Rock Island. Born in Chicago on April 9, 1955, Randy was the son of the late David Young and Geraldine Cooper Young.
Randy attended both public and Catholic schools in Chicago, graduating from Crane High School in 1973 before attending Illinois State University. Throughout his life, Randy worked in a variety of roles that reflected his dedication and versatility — from Ryerson Steel in Chicago, to the Chicago Park District, to the Chicago Police Department, and later as a Supervisor for Service Master at a local Chicago hospital. In his later years, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit, creating and selling unique jewelry and art.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lloyd Eric Young; and his sister, Sharice Young. Randy leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Penny Williams of Chicago; his brother, Fred Williams of Houston, Texas; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends whose lives he touched.
A gathering to celebrate Randy’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, IA. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor his memory and share stories of the life he lived.
Randy will be remembered for his hard work, creativity, and deep love for family. His presence will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
