Randy Scott

Memorial services celebrating the life of Randy Scott, 71, of Des Moines, and formerly of Davenport, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Scott passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at Mercy West Lakes Hospital, West Des Moines.

Randy was born April 26, 1953, in Davenport, a son of Cortez and Barbara (Freeman) Scott.  He was united in marriage to Missy Buskirk on February 8, 1992, in Davenport.

Prior to his retirement in 2015, he had worked for John Deere and Quad City Die Cast.

Randy loved the outdoors, especially bowhunting, fishing, camping, and his dogs.  He was a lifelong learner, a collector of oddities, and enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar.  He had a great sense of humor and could find the silver lining in every cloud.

Survivors include his wife Missy; children Sarah Scott, Kaydee Scott of Des Moines, Joseph Sawyer, Davenport, Joshua Silva, Savannah, GA, Brandon Sawyer, Davenport; grandchildren Jozlyn and Andrew Sawyer; siblings Tammy (Tom Rich) Menezes, Davenport, Rick Scott, Buffalo, IA, nieces and nephews Amanda (Heath) Wheeler, Eldridge, Amber Scott, Eldridge, Jake Menezes, Davenport, Jesse Scott, Davenport; great nieces and nephews Olivia Wheeler, Nate Wheeler, Romeo Lopez, all of Eldridge, Yasmine Scott, Davenport, Allie Wheeler, Davenport; and special “nephew” Christopher Spiess, Old Bridge, NJ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Beverly Poppe, Gerry Scott-Hastings, Pamela Scott, brother Rodney Scott, and niece Tiffany Scott.
