Funeral services celebrating the life of Ralph “Juny” Alatorre, Jr, 79, of Davenport, will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 11am until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Alatorre passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis East, Davenport.
Ralph Trujillo Alatorre Jr was born February 1, 1947, in East Moline, IL, to Ralph and Delores (Hess) Alatorre Sr. He was united in marriage to Shela Overmann in 2000. Ralph and Shela have celebrated 35 years together.
Prior to his retirement he was a glass glazier for over 50 years and owned and operated A & S Glass in Davenport.
Ralph lived life to the fullest and he understood that the best parts of life aren't always the biggest moments. Sometimes they're found in a favorite song, a great car, a delicious apple fritter, a Cubs game, a trip somewhere new, or a room filled with the people you love. He enjoyed all those things, and, most of all, he enjoyed the people who made life meaningful.
As much as he enjoyed his hobbies and interests, none of them compared to what mattered most to him: his family. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. Being with them, watching them grow, making memories, and simply enjoying their company brought him tremendous happiness.
Survivors include his wife Shela; daughters Lisa (Jay) Lara of Des Moines, Christina (Mike) Sanchez, Amanda Alatorre, Tara (Isaiah) Rohm all of Davenport; sons James Miller, David Alatorre, Tom Alatorre all of Davenport, Chris (Kelly) Lutz of Bettendorf, Randy Alatorre, Jeff Alatorre both of Davenport, and Ryan Overmann of Clearwater, FL; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister Mary (Larry) Hernandez of Bettendorf; sisters in law Irene (Paul) Haut, Denise Watts, Chris (Mike) Gladfelter, Cheryl Cervantes, Regina St. Claire, and Rachel (Rob) Connor all of Davenport; brothers in law Richard (Kris) Overmann, Steve Serrano, George Gladfelter all of Davenport, and Julio (Kim) Serrano of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge the first responders, Genesis nurses and doctors, Genevieve Alatorre, and especially James Goodknight who donated a kidney to Ralph in 2009.
He was preceded in death by his son Rodney Alatorre, sisters Christina and Peggy Alatorre and Tracy Blodgett, mother Delores (Phil) Blodgett, and father Ralph Alatorre Sr.
