Rachel Sue Miller was born January 19, 1965, in Chillicothe, OH, to Larry and Carolyn (Lemon) Miller.

Prior to becoming disabled, she worked alongside her mother at the former Mary Sue’s Café on Harrison Street in Davenport. They both worked very hard and the family business was to be passed down to Rachel from her mother Carolyn.

At the age of 43, Rachel suffered a stroke that left her permanently disabled and changed the course of her life. But it never took away her spirit. She faced the challenges that followed with courage and perseverance, continuing to find happiness in the simple things she loved and in the people who meant the most to her.

A lifelong sports fan, Rachel was especially devoted to the Chicago Cubs and Bears. She loved watching sports and enjoyed everything from baseball to tennis. She also loved children and had a special place in her heart for them. Whether spending time with family, working on a puzzle, or enjoying a game of bingo, she found ways to keep life interesting and fun.

She also had a tremendous love for animals, especially dogs. They brought her comfort, companionship, and plenty of happiness throughout her life.

Survivors include her daughter Briana (fiancé Josh Manes) Smead; son Timothy Smead; grandson Zyler Bailey; brother Dale (Jennifer) Miller; sisters Dawn Peppers, Karla (Mike) Seamer, and Michella (Patrick) Hopkins, all of Davenport; and father Larry Miller of Moline.

She was preceded in death by her grandchildren Skylar, Isabella, Jayden, and Carson Smead, mother and stepfather Carolyn and Jerry Wilson, sister Gail White, brother Danny Miller, and great niece Taaliyah Bassett.
