Phyllis Irene Womble

Phyllis I. Womble, age 85, of West Des Moines, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Davenport. A Celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 PM, on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1216 W. 8^th Street, Davenport. A time of fellowship will be held immediately following the service at the church.

Phyllis was born on November 26, 1936 in Wheatland to Leonard and Marianne (Siem) Petersen. She grew up in Davenport and returned there to live for 30 years. Phyllis had worked for Kemper Insurance Company as a claims adjuster retiring in 1988.

Phyllis loved the Lord and was active at both St. Mark Lutheran Church in West Des Moines, and Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport. She loved to travel, but especially around the State of Iowa. She was very proud of her German-Danish heritage. She especially enjoyed her time with family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Marie (Terry) Womble-Wallace; Al (Sara) Womble; grandchildren, Sienna, Indigo and Christian Womble; great-grandchildren, Emma Grace, Ella Rose, and Adlynn May; siblings, Delores Reiles, and Rudy (Mary) Petersen.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer and Jack Petersen.
